Overview:

7.7/10

The biggest highlight I think is the ease of set up. But there are several flaws that hold this product back from being a grade "A" tent. Be cautious purchasing from Amazon or Quictent's website as they have different information.

Highlights:

How will this product help you?

With winter happeneing in many areas every year, this would be classified an off-season grow tent to many. But also a year round tent for others. You will be able to produce lots of plants in the house, whether it be flowers or vegetables. Starting early or produce all year round.

Why will you want this product?

Grow tents are effective for keeping light in and out. They are generally light proof and have a reflective material inside to reflect light normally lost back to your plants. Although this tent has light leak, you will need to use caution when in the plants flower cycle if they are sensitive to light during this time. (Not all plants are sensitive)

What will this product will bring to YOUR garden?

The ability to have an effective means of containing your light in a small (or large) area can mean saving you money when it comes to your power bill. This tent is well made (minus the cons listed below) It is easy to set up. Nosy neighbours can be annoying when they see lights coming from a room, so why not spend a few extra dollars on a tent that will a)contain the light and b)save you money on electricity by reflecting it back to your plants?

Shipping - 10/10

I have nothing negative to say about shipping. It arrived on time, well packaged.

Discreetness - 10/10

All that was on the outside of the box was measurements and weight. It did not indicate what was in the tent or the manufacturer of the product.

Unboxing Initial Thought(s)  - 10/10

"Is this really it?" was all that was going through my mind on the first tent I ever ordered. All of the poles were well wrapped. There wasn't any damage done. It was well packaged. Instructions were included of how to put together the product, as there should have been.

Manufacturer Product Information - 9/10

I have had this product now for approx 1 year. I grew tomatoes in it last year. They  have the information on this product online.

The highlights are:

  • 100% PVC free - will not kill your plants

  • Size: 60" x 60" x 78"

  • Completely light-tight, waterproof and air-tight material.

  • Mylar lined interior for maximum use of light.

  • Double layer fabric using on outer conner.

  • Double layer of 4", 6", 8" ports.

  • Removable water-proof floor for spillages.

  • Inlet/Outlet vents for fans.

  • Passive ventilation windows with mesh

  • Everlasting zips

The one major thing they lack on informing is the weight this tent can hold. (for grow lights)

Please note: The highlights were taken from their web page. I assume Point #5 is spelled wrong and should be listed as "corner".

I don't know why they feel the need to add "will not kill your plants"

Package Contents - 9/10

Everything was in the package. Nothing was missing. However I wish they included an additional bar for hanging lights.

Cost- 8/10

$239.95 (CAD) I had paid. This was a good cost, It was the largest tent I could get *at the time* for under $250.  I still consider it a good cost, although with the flaws I found it should have been closer to $200.

Ease Set-Up - 10/10

Step by step instructions. Easy to follow. I have taken it down and set it up now a few times prior to Oct 17. I couldn't decide where to set it up. After the first time, you should be able to toss the instructions because it is simple. For this reason I enjoy the tent.

Term of Use / Effectiveness - 0/10

There are two "main concerns" I have with the product I received. Both have to do with light leakage. Firstly the zipper is NOT light leakage proof. Secondly, the stripping that they used to prevent light leak over time has begun to rip (Space blanket material / Mylar). Although it does not state the zippers OR tent is light proof *on their website*, all grow tents should be! Grow tents are built for the reason of Light reflection, and perfect growing environment! Both of these factors have failed with this product.

The issue that I have due to this: I now have air being pulled through the zipper at a different temperature than my (heated) intake. I want this to be a specific temperature but now pulls colder air in through holes half way up the zipper (as well as some seams).

Cannabis is very sensitive to light during the flower phase. For this reason I do not recommend this tent to anyone planning to grow it. I cannot turn the light on outside of the tent without risking letting light penetrating it's dark phase.

I wish their support bars were of stronger material. Lights are quite heavy, and over time the bars begin to bend slightly. It hasn't broken, but I am afraid to put any more weight on them. As a prevention I zap-strap them to the frame of the tent to ensure they don't fall. This should not be required for any consumer to do so.

Although these are small details that I have issues they play a large impact on my opinion on this product.

Other than these issues the tent works well. I did not have problems with my tomato plants last year. You do have side ports you can water through which is a nice decision for this product. Pending how many plants you have could be a pain to water. I enjoy the ports for ducting. There are lots of them.

Pro(s) / Con(s)

Pro(s) -

-For the price, it is a decent tent,

-Shipping / Discreetness was great,

-Ease of setup was too easy;

-They have quality zippers on the tent in the sense they don't disconnect.

Con(s) - As mentioned prior, there are quite a few flaws.

-Light leak (Not caused by use),

-Fabric behind the zipper is ripping off,

-Does not state max weight;

-Should have an extra cross bar.

Tests - 4/10

This can only be an item tested over time. In my opinion it partially failed to provide me with what I required. Although it is still working, I expected so much more. I will give it some points in this section only because everything "works" as they advertise, but there are several factors that are key when deciding on a grow tent they do not provide.

Overview-

If you are in a pinch for money and are looking for a product that will "work" this item still may be for you. I am running LED lights in my tent that do have some weight behind them. So if you are going to use this, ensure you have some light lights! Be cautious about what you grow in this tent. Light leak could cause issues in flowering of your plants.

Quictent does provide different information on Amazon than what is on their website.

It does state the tent is 100% light leak proof. As this is an amazon add, I will not be deducting points at this time. After my current grow I will review this however.

Update: I contacted the seller of this product on Amazon, to advise them of the light leak since day 1 (They advised me only a $30 credit could be applied)  to my account as an apology. Because I did not contact them (at the time I had no issues with tomatoes; I did not think it was an issue) back in 2017 (Less than 2 years with the product) when the order was placed. I understand their end, where they are not aware of me leaving it in the box for approx 6 months while I could purchase lights. The product has only been in use since March (3rd?) 2018.  So actual usage of this product is ONLY 10-11months old. I was not pleased with this response, although I understand "to an extent". There was no resolution on the product itself, so therefore will remain it's current rating.  Had there been better resolution, their product would have been rated better. So I still stand with my comment: "Caution should be used when buying this product".
